A journal entry and pep talk

OK. Here goes …

When I started writing articles it wasn’t my intention to write one per day. But after the first day, I wrote again on the second. And so on for about a week, and then I decided I would write and publish an article per day. I didn’t tell anyone yet. I worry about failing if I tell people my plans. But after I’d made an entire month it felt like a habit that was a bit ingrained, and I started saying that it was a daily habit for me.

I even shared an article on social media for the first time. That was a big deal for me. “Muse” isn’t my real name, see. It’s a pseudonym, a pen name. It’s always felt right to me to publish under a pseudonym. I think it feels like it gives me permission to introduce a bit of fiction, to take artistic license in what I write. But sharing on social media meant not only that my pseudonym is linked to my real identity (not that I’m trying to keep it secret — “Muse” isn’t a super hero :), it also meant that my friends and family knew that I’d started writing and it meant that they could read my writing. That was a big deal. But I did it, and I’m still here, although I do think the thought of it is maybe a thing that has made it a bit trickier for me to sit and write freely.
