When I was a much younger man travelling the world I kept a journal.
And I observed at that time that the richest and most exciting times in my travels were not captured in the journal; For the simple reason that I was too busy living to stop and write it all down.
I’m going to give that as my reason for being absent from writing for this past 10 days. In truth it is a mixture of things, but the life-is-too-rich-too-be-captured has a poetry to it that more mundane and practical reasons lack.
I don’t really know why I’m writing, or what for, or to whom.
But it is important to me, this habit of writing something and publishing it.
I think what will happen is that, later, when I’m famous, you will actually be able to come back here and read these articles, which at the time had literally zero to a few people reading them, and see that there was path of sorts there all along, even though I couldn’t see it myself. And hopefully that will help you with the confidence to begin your own journey, seeings as, and I mean this without irony, while I, the writer, am clearly talented; you, the aspiring, are also clearly more so, and if I can become as famous I am that you would come and read this old piece of my rambling, then you can also certainly become so.
