Big changes have happened in our family life in recent months.

We are now foster carers — and, while rewarding, it is extremely challenging.

The following document is all just research snippets about caring for children who have experienced trauma; what is possible for them and what they need, but also what the biggest challenges are for us as carers.

I’ve decided to publish this for anyone who might be in a similar situation;
It helped me a lot to realise that (1) our challenges are common, and to be expected, and (2) there is real hope for our charges, in fact, “Recovery from trauma can lead to post-traumatic growth for some children that can leave them more resilient and more competent than their nontraumatised peers”.
