DO NOT Install Webroot SecureAnywhere on Your Mac!
This article was originally titled “Removing Webroot SecureAnywhere from a Mac” — however, given the difficulty experienced doing that, I thought the more dramatic title appropriate — I did get rid of it however, and the solution is in the final paragraph of this article
If you have an employer who asks you to install Webroot SecureAnywhere on your Mac to protect them from cyber attacks, it is important that you politely decline. You can point them to this article if you wish.
Webroot SecureAnywhere, once installed on your machine, is a real pain to remove — skip to the very bottom for the final solution (“Continuing the (SUCCESSFUL) Extraction”), or read the full article to understand why I found it important to share this information that Webroot SecureAnywhere is dodgy crap that you should absolutely NOT install on your machine.
