Benefits of Xero

I’ve used Xero for accounting for a couple of years now. At $19 AUD / month it is worth it for me. The integration with my bank transactions makes it that much of a time saver from just a spreadsheet.

I’m adding additional contractors to my business in 2020, so I’ll be upgrading to the Xero Business plan ($50 / month), and that will allow the invoicing module to also be enabled.

Entering my invoices into Xero and having them match up when a payment is received will be a decent time saver in bookkeeping, but will also actually solve the pain point of needing to track late payments.

I currently accept invoice payments as direct debits to my bank account, and I’ll continue to do that and hope that the mechanism Xero uses to match the payments to the invoices will handle that (I will research that and report back here with findings).

Where to configure your Xero invoice :

I also want to accept other methods of payments, and that is what the remainder of this article is about.
