Preamble

A quick one from me today — it’s Saturday afternoon — today my 2nd youngest turned 7. We had a birthday party in the park — cake and yummy food, and about 15 young guests. We don’t tend to do a lot of party games, but I do like to have at least one going on, and I wanted to do pass the parcel.

Now — I don’t like crap — and by crap I mean little plastic toys that might be played with for maybe 5 minutes before the interest is gone and they are officially garbage — might still hang on to them for another 5 years or whatever, but they are not adding any value to anyones life.

I also don’t like having so much stuff. I’ve written about the mess in our home before. I love to purge whenever we can.

Anyway — I said this would be a quick one — enough rambly pre-amble — the idea was this; We chose from our children’s existing toys ones that would be special for each child who was invited to the party — checked with the kids that they were happy to let go of them of course — and grabbed just a couple from the store and also dipped into our miscellaneous presents collection.

Bonus life hack : have a miscellaneous presents collection that you keep in a box on a high shelf — this has some small but cool toys, games and books that are on hand for when those school…
