Microdosing — An opinion

Microdosing is the new super trendy way to take drugs, and a new way of thinking about drugs

Microdosing is taking a drug, usually psilocybin in the form of powered magic mushrooms, regularly but in very small quantities so the effect is very mild.

That thing that Google uses to give a definition of something defines Microdosing as “the action or practice of taking or administering very small amounts of a drug in order to test or benefit from its physiological action while minimizing [sic] undesirable side effects.

Practitioners of microdosing describe experiencing reduced anxiety and increased happiness in their daily lives.

I love the term microdosing.

When I was a kid it was just called being a drug addict.

Microdosing sounds both far more credible and far more romantic.

Don’t get me wrong; I don’t think that the old parlance was a particularly useful way of understanding the behaviour.

I think in general as a society our relationship to drugs is unhealthy primarily because of the narratives about our relationships with drugs being unhealthy, rather than any property inherent in mind altering substances.
