In this time our family is in semi-lockdown.

I say “semi” because I am still going into the office most days.

But my two youngest daughters are home together every day now.

They are seven and four years old.

My wife and I were a bit worried how this time together would go down.

It’s actually been beautiful.

I’m writing this from in bed and I can hear the two girls playing happily in the other room.

They ran into our bedroom this morning, so excited, because our four year old was actually, really, whistling. She demonstrated. It wasn’t bad.

They fluttered out like birds.

The next announcement — a zooming into the room, a jumping on the bed, and an excited yelling — was to say that they are going to build a cubby!

“With four chairs!”

I wanted to record this moment because I was struck by the awareness that this bond which is being so strengthened between the two of them at the moment is going to be there for them both for their whole lives.
